As Yıldız Entegre, we are excited to offer our followers content under a new concept on our blog in 2020. Throughout the coming year, we will be focusing on "Architects in the Footsteps of the Tree" and each month we will present a summary of the work and life of an architect who is following the footsteps of the tree.

We are traveling to Italy for the first guest of "Architects in the Footsteps of the Tree". Our architect in the footsteps of the tree is Aldo Rossi for January...

Born on May 3, 1931, Aldo Rossi grew up in Milan, the center of fashion and design in the north of Italy. He graduated from Politecnico di Milano in 1959, which is one of the most important schools of the city and the country.

The Italian architect gained an international reputation thanks to his designs and ideas and he is known as much for his drawings and industrial designs as for his contributions to architectural theory and projects. In his early works, he was influenced by architects and artists representing the modernism movement. In the following years, he adopted a neo-rational approach that led him to be cited as one of the most important representatives of postmodern architecture by architecture critic Charles Jencks.

Among the famous architect's important works is the Teatro del Mondo, a floating theater hall he built for the Venice Biennale in 1979. The structure has an octagonal tower and is covered with wood-based material. A representative of tranquility, the floating theater Teatro del Mondo (Theater of the World) is woven into the city's collective architectural memory according to Rossi.

This work of the famous architect, who won the Pritzker Architecture Prize for his design of the Bonnefanten Museum, is one of the most important examples of postmodern architecture. The Bonnefanten Museum, a contemporary art museum located in the city of Maastricht in the Limburg region of the Netherlands, was built using traditional construction materials of brick, stone and wood. Completed in 1995, it is considered one of the most important contemporary buildings with its rocket-shaped appearance.

Throughout his career, the famous architect Aldo Rossi has been involved in furniture design in addition to architectural works that have brought him international fame. Aldo Rossi, an architect in the footsteps of the tree, often preferred wood-based materials as raw materials in the furniture he designed. Aldo Rossi has inspired those who want to create space in their homes with his clean, simple and functional furniture.

According to Aldo Rossi, The Paris chair, The Cartesio bookcase and The Consiglio desk are the products that define the ideal office. The frame of the chair is made of black painted aluminum and the seat and backrest are made of polyurethane foam. The bookcase with metal parts painted red or blue comes in two types; open and closed. The table, which has a very simple form, is completely made of solid wood material.

The Quartier Schützenstrasse in Berlin is considered to be Aldo Rossi's last work. The building was completed in 1997 and the famous architect Aldo Rossi passed away just one day before the inauguration of the building. The building, which attracts attention with its multi-colored facades, appears as a series of buildings, each with a different color.

Aldo Rossi, one of the influential architects and important theorists of his time, continues to influence contemporary architects with his ideas on architectural archetypes and the collective memory of the city, especially in his book "Architecture of the City". Rossi has made a name for himself by leaving important works in his career.
