Part Three: Keeping Up with Change

"In the future, it is planned that the sense of safe space felt at home can also be felt in workplaces, increasing the capacity of new common areas to be able to transform rapidly and to be prepared for potential situations that can be experienced.”

Agile Spaces: Agile Spaces

Every era has its own understanding of architecture; architectural designs are shaped according to the era and the current conditions specific to that era.

In the 21st century, as in other periods, architectural forms change according to the requirements and demands of the era. At this point, we see the concept of "Agile Spaces” where both individual and collective living spaces are considered in design.

Transformation of Living Spaces: Agile Spaces

Whether public or private, the need of our living spaces in the new age is modern agility! The demand is increasing every day for agile spaces that are open to change and transformation, that protect productivity and increase efficiency, and that cares to create social use areas while also considering individual use areas. Agile space designs, which emphasize the use of living spaces with maximum functionality, draw attention to the problem that almost 60% of traditional workplaces are not used and aims to reduce costs by at least 20% through optimized office use. What's more, we are now seeing many companies starting to adopt activity-based working (ABW). It is predicted that productivity and teamwork will increase in the workplace with ABW, where employees have the freedom to choose the most suitable workspace for the type of work they will do that day.

Safe and Modern "Agile Spaces" in Interior Architecture

The transformation of our homes, our private living spaces into a safe fortress also due to the impact of the pandemic, and the importance of maintaining social distance in public spaces have brought about a change in the criteria we look for in our living spaces.  Many workplaces have switched to remote or hybrid working models. Thus, modern "agile spaces" have once again come to the forefront with their architecture designed with an eye for individual space in collective living. In this period when health and safe space are of vital importance, "agile spaces", which enable optimizing workplace use for a vigorous, energetic and productive environment, have easily adapted to current conditions by highlighting the individual space.
