London Throughout History: From the Empire On Which the Sun Never Sets to the Industrial Revolution
August is finally here! This month’s “chasing the tree” destination is London, one of Europe’s largest and oldest cities. Because it’s covered in grey clouds most of the year, London is usually recognized as a gloomy city. However, that doesn’t necessarily mean London is not full of life! This city is known for its green scene, and Londoners certainly enjoy proximity to nature.
In London, both locals and tourists get to enjoy lush greeneries spread across all around the city. All that rain must have worth something, right?
People visit parks to escape from the hustle and bustle of the city and to engage in outdoor activities - they enjoy life the best way they can. Among all the parks in London, Hyde Park is the largest and the most popular one. It’s a must-visit destination for any tourist in London. One of the most populated cities in Europe, London is also one of the most ethnically diverse. In this large cosmopolitan, almost 300 different languages are spoken.
The must-visit list for London is a long one. A walk along the Thames River will present you the best of London such as Big Ben, London Eye, Tower of London, Tower Bridge, Westminster Palace, and London Bridge. Of course, the list doesn’t end there. A lot of must-visit museums, restaurants, cafés, and shopping malls are spread around the city. Celebrated for including a rich variety of parks and gardens, London is also the world’s financial center. Fashion and art is also a big deal here. Sports tourism is what makes London even more unique. Being home to major football clubs and the world’s most famously followed football league, London is flooded with football fans throughout the year.
